Gotland 3-dagars day3 (2016-07-14)

Gotland chasing start

Realised after the last two days how fast time can slip away with even small mistakes so wanted to be more accurate in orienteering, then missed no1 haha

on the way to no3 it was really bushy and slow so changed route plan as soon as i hit the little path.
then the next loop felt totally differnt terrain to the other days, bigger hills easier to see them and easy to use, like scottish sand dunes.
In this area the code at the controls didnt match my control descriptions, something was wrong (in my head blaming the organisers) but turned out i picked up the wrong descriptions oops! and no descriptions on the map! strange terrain and no codes = nervous

I managed to overtake ewan without seeing him and only saw him on the path just after no7 so told him how to find the control hoping he would catch me up as we worked well together on day1. But I missed no8 and never saw him again.

ran with Emil Lauri to no13 where he seemed to want to chat casual about how the first half had gone, asked me how I was, gave me his decriptions, asked about Ewan, talked about the speed we was running at then we seprated with different routes into the control and he missed massive and didnt see him again either!

more terrible mapping in the end of the course + I was feeling pretty tired made it a struggle

pretty tough few days not feeling good physically and really hot weather.

The terrain was really cool, pretty special but the maps wer shocking. The map was 15-20years old and just be revised every year by the same bloke. It was a total gamble if the forest would be open or really bushy. and the contours was map from if you was stood on them looking down rather than how it would look as you approched them, made it pretty wierd that one side of the hill the contour would be higher up the hill than the other side! with a proper map this would be amazing terrain!!
